Mocking Birds public art performance piece 2008
This piece was a collaboration with Mike Eng.
The failure of humans to tune into their surroundings led us to create a piece that would force the attention of the casual passerby. Trying to keep things playful, we recorded ourselves vocally making everyday, usually ignored, noises: dogs barking, trucks backing up, birdcalls, and sirens. We then played these noises in public areas.
At first, most people kept walking, until they realized that there was something a little abnormal about what they were hearing.
